My name is John Bristowe . For those of you who do not know me, I am a member of the Technical Audience team at Microsoft Canada . Our team is comprised of men and women who are passionate about supporting Canadian developers like you. It is our job to ensure that you are empowered to be successful at your role by helping you make connections and grow your skills. There is a good chance we have crossed paths either online through the Canadian Developer Connection or through events like AlignIT , Ignite Your Coding , and TechDays . Simply put, our team is proud to support the Canadian developer community.

At Microsoft, we take security very seriously. As part of our commitment to supporting your skills, we have a great deal of information showing you how to help build applications in a secure manner. For developers striving to support improved security while developing applications, I would strongly encourage you to check out the Microsoft Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) site and the templates and tools that are available . This should be considered an essential resource for developers wanting to learn how to automate SDL practices. Of course, Microsoft’s commitment to security does not stop there. Take, for example, the innovative features Microsoft has added to Internet Explorer 9 to help keep your browsing experience reliable, safe and private; features such as Tracking Protection , the SmartScreen Filter , and ActiveX Filtering . Along with its support for modern web standards like HTML5, CSS3 and SVG, super-fast JavaScript performance , a rich developer experience , full hardware acceleration — Internet Explorer 9 has a tremendous amount to offer for web developers.

When it comes to staying connected to the community, it is important to have the right resources. That is where the Canadian Developer Connection comes in. Our blog is your one-stop-shop for everything you need to stay up-to-date on the latest news and information for Canadian developers.  If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me an e-mail or follow me on Twitter ( @jbristowe ). Our measurement of success is your satisfaction and I am here to help to earn that trust.
