Volume 10, Issue 12: June 2008
From the Editor
Dear IT Managers,
Thanks to all who came out and attended the EnergizeIT event in Toronto. It’s really the great community and gathering of like-minded people from all over the country for one day that makes this event the tremendous success that it is. IT professionals and developers came from Vancouver to Halifax and if people weren’t giving presentations or being interviewed about their Green IT practises by yours truly, they were answering questions at the Ask the Experts booth, helping out on stage in the crazy demo competition or just sharing their knowledge and getting to know their IT counterparts. It was great to walk around and hear and see the conversations that were happening. Now that’s community!

If you want to take a look at the presentations that were given, check out www.energizeit.ca. Click on any of the tracks to view the presentations in PowerPoint for those sessions. Video recordings for each of the sessions will also be posted shortly.

Along with warmer temperatures and longer days comes the annual ritual of spring cleaning in many homes across the country. Spring signifies an “out with the old and in with the new” type of attitude. Well, might I suggest that this is the perfect time to put that same sentiment towards your training – it’s the perfect time to spring clean your IT skills!

To help you out with your ongoing skills development, here is a list of resources. Take your laptop out to the back patio, grab yourself a cold drink and get started.

Microsoft Virtual Labs – free online labs of all the newest products
Microsoft Events and Webcasts – watch and listen to free webcasts and podcasts, either live or on-demand; also find in-person events in your area

Thanks for reading,
