Volume 10, Issue 6: April 2008
From the Editor
Dear IT Managers,
Rodney Buike
I am often asked where someone could get their hands on the software we use to do the demos at the events we hold. I can understand the perception people might have, as I had the same ones before I joined Microsoft. I remember thinking “they work at Microsoft, they have unlimited access to software” and while we can get most software internally we are limited to the amount of keys and activations. So where do we go? Well there are a few places that we use that you also have access to.
The TechNet Trial Software Centre is the first place I look for already released software. This is where I got the software to build the virtual machines for the My TechNet Security Tour and the Heroes Happen {Here} launch tour. The second place I look is the TechNet Beta Central portal. This is where you can find a lot of the latest beta software and I grabbed the Windows Server 2008 RC here so I could start learning the technology before building the Heroes Happen {Here} content.
Two great places to get your hands on betas and trial versions of the latest software and it doesn’t cost you a dime. Go try it today!

Thanks again and enjoy this edition,

Rodney Buike
