Volume 10, Issue 7: April 2008
From the Editor
Dear IT Managers,
Rodney Buike
You may know me as “the lazy admin” from the website I run with Daniel Nerenberg, an MVP from Montreal. As a lazy admin, I really don’t like getting out of my comfy chair to head into the server room to manage my servers. I also don’t like having to initiate multiple RDP sessions to all my servers so that I can manage the specific roles installed on each of them. Well now I don’t have to!

The Remote Server Administration Toolkit was released the other day and this is the tool I know you are waiting for. This is the tool to install on your Windows Vista SP1-based workstation that will allow you to manage those Windows 2008-based servers without having to get out of that chair, or initiate those RDP connections. It also includes an updated Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) that will allow you to search, filter and comment GPO settings on Windows 2003 and 2008-based servers. While you are checking out RSAT be sure to hit these links to find out more about the new GPMC as well as the Microsoft Advanced Group Policy Management capabilities including this Step-By-Step Guide!

One last thing, if you want to see a quick demo of how the RSAT tools work be sure to check out the video on TechNet Edge with Jason Leznek from the development team today!

Thanks again and enjoy this edition,

Rodney Buike
