Windows, Office, Exchange, SQL and every other product Microsoft builds goes through a beta testing process.  This is where the product is tested, bugs discovered and fixed before we call RTM and lock the code.  This is often your first chance to get your hands on the new software and try it yourself.

Once the code goes to RTM, short for Release to Manufacturing, trials of the software are made available so you can try the final code and get your hands dirty seeing what’s new, how it will work in your environment and start your planning.

There is a central repository for all these betas and trials and I wanted to point it out as there is some great software there now and some more coming soon!  Like what?

- Windows Server 2008 R2

- Windows 7 Enterprise

- Exchange 2010 RC

- System Center Essentials 2010 Beta

- Office 14 (coming soon)

So head over to the TechNet Evaluation Center and see what’s new!
