Greetings New TechNet Flash Subscriber,

Traditionally you’ve been limited in your messaging and content management options and I don’t mean products. While there are lots of products out there, you’ve been tasked with managing the system on your own. Every job I had in the industry required me to manage an Exchange server and now you could probably add managing a SharePoint server to the list. But that is changing and now there is a choice.

We have been talking about, and demoing Microsoft Online Services, specifically the Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS), at EnergizeIT. I signed up for the 30 day trial to understand how the hosted services work and how they interact with my on-premise environment. There are numerous options available in how you deploy Exchange, SharePoint, and Office Communicator; on-premise or as a service. You can even provide a set of mixed services with some users hosted on site and other users can be hosted in the cloud. And the best part; it can all be managed under the same Active Directory.

I urge you to sign up for the trial and try it out. Take a look at the tools that allow you to link to your current deployment, synchronize them and if your choice is to push it all to the cloud, migrate it. Take the 30 day trial for a spin and let me know what you think!
