Anti-virus. It is pretty standard on all PCs to help protect them, we filter incoming and outgoing email to help protect that method of communication, and even the latest Windows Live Messenger will tie into your anti-virus to scan files being sent via IM. So why not SharePoint?

While your desktop AV might provide adequate security from inside threats, more and more SharePoint-based sites are being made accessible to external customers and technology partners. A recent Trend-Micro survey found that 19-48% of organizations have opened up their SharePoint-based sites to customers, partners, consultants and/or affiliates. If you fall into this category how are you protecting your deployments of SharePoint?

Have you implemented content filtering, anti-virus scanning, or multiple layers of security? I’ve listed a few resources on securing your deployments of SharePoint with Forefront Security for SharePoint and I’d love to hear what you are doing to protect your environments!
