In 2006 we released the TechNet Innovation Awards and the MSDN Code Awards as a way to recognize the great work done by Canadian IT professionals and developers. This past year we combined them into the Ignite IT Awards and we recently announced the winners.

The 2009 Ignite IT Award Winner for IT Professional is The Community Caregiver Portal Solution by Navantis - Social Networking in Action.

The 2009 Ignite IT Award Winner for Developers is AgilePlanner for Digital Tabletop: A Tabletop-Based Project Planning Tool for Distributed Teams.

Both teams received a $5000 cash prize. All submissions showed off an amazing set of skills and talents as they built custom solutions to address challenges faced. I’d like to congratulate all the entrants and look forward to a new crop of innovative solutions next year! Learn more about the winners and their submissions here.
