Entertainment Company Improves Security, Reduces Support Costs with Technology Upgrade

Business Challenge

ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation is the largest integrated media and entertainment company in the Philippines. It ran a mixed environment using Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2, Microsoft® Windows® 2000, and Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003. The company had experienced previous security breaches resulting from PCs infected with spyware. This required manual re-installation of the operating system and applications, making significant demands on IT support and increasing department costs. The company needed to:

• Improve security and strengthen administrator control.
• Reduce IT support demands through remote PC management.
• Provide troubleshooting and self-help support for users.

Solution

The company engaged Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Nexus Technologies in late 2006, to deploy a single platform Windows Vista® solution using the 2007 Microsoft® Office system. The new installation trialed on five Intel® Core DuoTM processor equipped HP Evo nc6400 laptops that worked with the software to improve security, troubleshooting and search efficiency, and reduce IT department reliance. The new solution will provide 50 Vista users with:

• Remote management and monitoring.
• Automatic problem diagnosis, self-help and remote assistance tools.
• An improved graphical interface, and enhanced search tools.
