According to Jesús Ortega, “the selection process was interesting because Ottomotores is not in favor of a trademark in particular; therefore we were let to select on our own the solution to implement. We assessed the advantages and disadvantages of 18 solutions available in the market: we needed something that would make things more agile, but at the same time provide the necessary information when and how we needed it”. “It was fundamental –he continues- to rely on a noble and easy to use working tool, as well as adequate for our operations.”
After the long selection process, Fillgap was the Microsoft Partner that proved to be the right solution. Moreover, it has well prepared consultants and a solid infrastructure; on top of this an important issue was the availability it showed in the delivery of its consultancy service”, declares Ortega, and adds that the success of the solution once in action and the increase in productivity, and the optimization of processes in Ottomotores is due, to a great extent, to the effort of the consultants. The technological process is divided into three stages, the first of which will conclude at the end of the year 2006, and contemplates the integration of the area of the light energy generating plants.
The 2nd stage will finish in 2007 and will integrate the manufacturing area. Finally, the 3rd stage is scheduled to end at the beginning of 2008, approximately. This includes the service area. The process of implementation of the solution in the first stage began on April 16th 2006, period in which the technology suited the organization’s needs, which allowed the integration of the information and growth according to the required parameters.
Benefits
The incorporation of Navision to Ottomotores has enabled the optimization of processes, and the leverage of productivity and competitiveness; moreover, it is a solution easy to install due to its adaptability and flexibility. The implementation of Navision has reduced the time spent running business processes, which has favored, to a great extent, the efficiency and productivity of the employees. The following is a clear example: To get the seniority of a portfolio, two days were needed using the old system; with Navision only 10 minutes are required. On the other hand, Ottomotores main concern is having reliable information when and how it is needed at checkpoints, since it constitutes a key need of the Group. Communication is expected to happen through the system, so that Navision works as an evaluation tool, not only at the information level, but also as a resource requirement, and above all, to implement new working procedures.
