Healthcare Australia OFFICE 365: A SMARTER OFFICE COLLABORATION PLATFORM FOR LESS

When Healthcare Australia engaged Microsoft, they got more than just an IT upgrade - they got a new way of doing business.

COMPANY SUMMARY

Healthcare Australia supplies contingent labour to hospitals and aged-care facilities across Australia. Its 250-strong administration team works with over 7000 active nurses, doctors and aged care professionals to help keep Australia’s hospitals staffed and smiling.

THE CHALLENGE
With its unwavering focus on staffing Australia’s hospitals, Healthcare Australia had let its IT systems fall a little by the wayside. With a legacy infrastructure that included a ten-year-old email system, newly appointed CIO Mark Botros felt it was time for an upgrade.

THE SOLUTION
Botros considered all the available options and decided a Microsoft solution represented the most mature and cost-efficient investment. He also wanted to keep his team using world-standard Office software, rather than spend more capital on re-training. He deployed Microsoft Office 365 integrated with Lync and SharePoint as a total office collaboration platform, supported by Windows Intune.

“Moving to Office 365 was an obvious choice,” says Botros. “Instead of capital expenditure you simply subscribe to an ongoing service, freeing up staff and funds. In a straight comparison, I worked out that Office 365 would save us approximately A$300,000 over the next three years. Office software is no longer seen as a depreciable asset, it’s now treated as an operational expense.

* Office 365 means no more administration time devoted to managing upgrades and archives – it’s all done in the cloud, securely and remotely. We can forget about IT headaches and focus on innovation. Plus it will save us A$300,000 over the next three years. *

THE RESULTS AND BENEFITS

Cost Savings: IT overheads are dramatically reduced by the subscription model. Upgrades are automatic, while UK-based teams can now connect via Lync, reducing travel.

Legal Support: Now that every single piece of mail is stored and captured, Healthcare Australia can carry out eDiscovery across mailboxes.

Collaborative Workflows: SharePoint means that staff no longer need to wait until monthly meetings for updates: they can collaborate via discussion groups, surveys and document management tools.

Smarter searches: Staff can ‘like’ and ‘tag’ documents, enabling SharePoint to understand which documents should appear at the top of search results.

Safer Archiving: With true disaster recovery and safer, remote back-ups aiding business continuity.

Bigger Mailboxes: With a new 25GB mailbox, staff no longer have to decide which emails to save.

Operational visibility: With one source of ‘data truth’ with complete version control.

Remote management: Windows Intune deploys its security and management tools automatically and remotely, without a virtual private network.
