DB Results SMART COLLABORATION - EASY SET-UP

See how DB Results used Office 365 to create a more collaborative and responsive team

COMPANY PROFILE

DB Results is an independent professional services consultancy that specialises in the delivery of transformation programs and systems integration. It is a partner of many organisations across the utilities, telecommunications, financial services, aviation and government sectors helping its customers turn strategy into reality. Based in Melbourne, the company has a team of 150 across Asia and Australia.

THE CHALLENGE

Growing fast, DB Results was hiring five to ten new people a month, outgrowing its ageing in-house IT systems and impacting reliability. The company wanted to provide the latest collaboration technology on laptops, tablets and mobiles so workers could access documents and collaborate on the go – while avoiding ongoing capital investment in servers and software.

THE SOLUTION

Shared Services Manager, John Demelis, took the company’s five-year strategy and built a roadmap that ultimately selected Microsoft Office 365 as the platform of choice. Ease of adoption and virtually no learning curve, coupled with the rich feature set, cemented the decision. Another key factor was partner, Telstra, who helped shape and bring the solution to life. “Telstra made it easy for us with a complete package combining our mobiles, network infrastructure and communications, landlines and Office 365 subscriptions all on a single bill,” says John.

The switch was straightforward – and the company hasn’t looked back. “The infrastructure, accessibility and reliability of Office 365 is way beyond anything that we could have delivered to the business. The bonus is that it gave us cool tools and provided a catalyst to modernise our business,” says John. “We’re collaborating more online, we’re more in touch with our staff and we are able to progressively replace paper-based processes across the business.”

THE RESULTS AND BENEFITS

A more responsive team : Within four days, the entire team moved seamlessly to Microsoft Exchange email, making outages a thing of the past. The consultants have larger inboxes plus all Office 365’s smartest features on their mobiles, tablets and laptops, keeping them productive.

Faster collaboration : Microsoft Lync provides video conferencing, instant messaging and shared desktops, making it easier to meet, brainstorm and collaborate. With this presence the team has far better visibility of colleagues’ availability, saving hours of phone tag.

Simple IT : Managing procurement of software and licensing is no longer cumbersome and time consuming with software available instantly from the cloud as you add each user.

More agile : Setting up new hires is easy, making the company more responsive to new opportunities.

Predictable budgets : There’s no need to invest heavily in infrastructure, reducing risk and CAPEX, and it’s straightforward to match IT costs to company growth, simplifying budgets.
