As part of a global initiative, started on a group level, the largest electric equipment retail chain in Slovakia migrated to Microsoft Office 365 cloud services. The move brought effective document collaboration for all employees, access to
company data from any device, all with security and reliability.
||Switching from our previous cloud service to Office 365 went smoothly, without the loss of any documents, including emails. Meanwhile, all email history is stored on local PCs.

HAGARD:HAL is part of the Rexel Group, the largest global distributor of electronic devices and electro-installation materials. The group includes 40 global partnerships and 130 logistic supply chains, with over 2,100 factories and 28,000 employees in 37
countries. In 2012 it posted a turnover of US$16.5 billion and a net profit of US$319 million.
HAGARD:HAL has 17 sales points throughout Slovakia. Employees used the Google Apps for Business cloud solution for email communication, document and calendar sharing, and some of the employees used the document viewing and editing option directly in Google
Apps. The main issue they faced was compatibility of documents with the Microsoft Office format, primarily for more complicated and longer documents.
The initiative to migrate from Google Apps for Business to Microsoft Office 365 came from Rexel, who introduced this flexible business solution as a standard for all its companies. The aim was to unify and render more efficient communications between companies
such as email administration and document management, with the option of team collaboration.
The move to the new solution was an excellent opportunity to consolidate documents and email, so messages from the original solution were exported to local PST files, and employees now have their complete email communication history on their local PCs.
Lync Online, as an integral part of Office 365, helped sort out the communication needs. Whether it be between sales points within HAGARD:HAL, or for communication with the Rexel headquarters, Lync is used for both local and international telephone calls,
and also for video conferencing and instant messaging.
HAGARD:HAL plans to make use of SharePoint Online in the near future, for document sharing and team collaboration on creating and approving documents.
Operationally, the company has reaped significant savings as monthly fees are based only on services consumed, with low initial investment costs. Furthermore, the monthly fee for Office 365 Plan E2 is lower than the fee for their previous cloud services.
Significant savings on communications costs were also achieved. Employees advantageously use Lync Online for international phone calls within the group. The company also implemented a voice communications solution from Polycom, optimized for use with Lync.
Lync Communicator is used both for internal trainings and presentations, enabling the inclusion of employees from remote branch offices in internal offices meetings without the need to travel.
In addition to direct cost savings on communications, indirect savings based on more efficient communications within the corporation were also achieved. A global address book and information on availability saves time in choosing the most suitable means
of communications, based on whether employees are currently busy or available.
