Hospital Uses Business Intelligence to Trim Patient Waiting Time by up to 51 Percent
4-page Case Study posted: 11/07/2011

When you are located in the fastest-growing state in the United States, customers have a way of finding you—but can you boost your efficiency enough to serve them all without massive increases in your facilities and staffing? That was the happy challenge facing Texas Children’s Hospital, one of the top pediatric hospitals in the U.S. Its solution: Adopt a Microsoft Business Intelligence solution to find and resolve bottlenecks in the flow of patients through the hospital in near-real time. As a result, the hospital has reduced delays by up to 51 percent, shaving a full day off the typical hospital stay and making it possible for the hospital to see as many more patients in a year as it could if it had added and staffed another hospital floor. And because the solution relies on familiar Microsoft technology, it was easily adopted by the IT department and clinical staff.

In celebration of the centenary of its foundation, ‘Chungang University Portal’, the touchstone of IT environment, has opened
4-page Case Study posted: 10/10/2011

In celebration of the centenary of its foundation in 2018, Chungang University revealed the ‘Chungang University Portal (CAU Portal) in May 2011.’ As the new systems were increasing after the 2000s, Chungang University found that the access to the systems for students and faculty wasn’t easy. The university decided that, for the active use of the expensive systems, both accessibility and convenience should be improved, and to do this, it started to review the portal implementation. On the portal, they tried to implement the functions of main systems in the university as the web parts to use them like their own portal services while supporting menu configuration by user identification and personalization by user’s preferences. In addition, they tried to move the students and graduates’ mail service base to the Live@edu to build cloud services into their portal.

Council on Target to Cut Costs and Improve Customer Service with New Citizen Portal
4-page Case Study posted: 08/05/2011

As a leader in public sector IT, London Borough of Newham wanted to improve its service delivery and digital engagement with citizens, while reducing costs. By sharing services with the neighbouring local authority of Havering, Newham is pioneering a transformation in both councils using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, and Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010. Its online portal service, which is available to every resident, will encourage more people to conduct transactions online rather than at council offices. With reusable technology, the platform will contribute to Newham and Havering’s target of more than £11 million cashable savings between them, without cutting front-line services. Potential exists for other authorities—including the London Borough of Waltham Forest—to join them, further improving efficiency and providing high-quality customer service.

Microsoft Closes Quarterly Books More Than 50 Percent Faster with Web-Based Portal
4-page Case Study posted: 07/12/2011

The Microsoft Corporate Accounting team is under continued pressure to close the corporation’s books and file regulatory reports ever faster. This team of financial experts used Microsoft SharePoint products and technologies to create a portal for coordinating financial close and reporting activities. They built the portal themselves, with no help from the IT staff, and recently upgraded it to Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 to take advantage of productivity enhancements. By choreographing all closing and reporting activities in one place, Microsoft Corporate Accounting can close its quarterly books more than 50 percent faster, reduce the time to complete quality checks of its consolidated financial statement, and file quarterly 10-Q regulatory documents along with earnings releases. The staff works far more productively now and has more time to focus on moving the business forward.
