Cruise Line Improves Business Insight and Employee Efficiency with Intelligent System
4-page Case Study posted: 04/08/2014

Royal Caribbean International wanted to gain better insight into customer behavior and enhance workflow on its innovative new cruise ships. To improve operations, Royal Caribbean deployed a solution from Agilysys and ParTech (PAR) that connects Windows Embedded devices including 325 point-of-service (POS) terminals, 50 tablets, and 300 digital signs with backend servers running Microsoft SQL Server and Windows Server. The intelligent system shares data with show-ticketing systems, photo galleries, and in-room entertainment to give new insight into spending habits and enable more-effective selling strategies while cutting operating costs with digital signatures and electronic receipts. Connecting 35 handheld devices with existing IT infrastructure and food storage equipment has also improved workflow throughout the ships, including reducing food-inspection time from five to two hours.

Design framework and technical tips reduce pop-music app-development time 80-90 percent
2 page Case Study posted: 01/19/2014

Australia’s most popular music video show, Take 40, had to react at lightning speed when its young audience started migrating from online media to apps. Keeping apps fresh, however, consumed scarce IT resources. In 2012, Take 40 used the prescriptive design features in Windows 8 to launch a new app in a record three weeks, with minimal .Net coding resources. Development costs dropped 80-90 percent, while Take 40 created its most compelling app to date.

Finland promotes telecommuting via national directory service
1-page Solution Brief posted: 12/20/2013

Modern collaboration and messaging tools are often used within organizational boundaries and untapped potential exists in use of the tools across organizational boundaries. Between organizations, the lack of address information and incompatible naming practices of video conferencing and unified communications endpoints makes use of modern collaborative communication unnecessary cumbersome. TIEKE - Finnish Information Society Development Centre, together with Microsoft and five other contributors, conducted a project to study the current use of video conferencing and unified communications, create national directory service to facilitate inter organizational use of the tools and create a national community of user organizations, service providers and technology providers to promote use of standards and interoperable practices.

Cloud-based Site Creates Connection Between People and Interesting Places To Go
1-page Solution Brief posted: 09/09/2013

Looking at sites from all over the world like Yelp, Facebook and others, the Nadji.Info team realized that Serbia had no such resource available to help people find places to go out to and enjoy. In response, they built their database and developed a website for it using their own infrastructure. When the volume of visitors started to overwhelm that infrastructure they realized they needed a better solution, and they found it using Microsoft Windows Azure.
