San Diego County Sheriff's Department Sheriff’s Department Saves Time and Money with Custom Information Management Hub

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department (SDSD), the third-largest local law enforcement agency in California, has 4,000 employees. In 2010, it set out to create an information hub that would make data available from disparate databases. Working with Microsoft Services and VisionWare Ltd., SDSD IT professionals developed SDFusion, a scalable enterprise service bus based on Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010 and integrated with VisionWare MultiVue, an operational master data management hub. With SDFusion, users can access up-to-date information—even from the field—from a central dashboard. The SDSD has saved time and reduced costs by automating the retrieval and matching of data from multiple, sometimes isolated, data stores distributed across local, state, and federal agencies. SDFusion was also designed to conform with current national law and justice information exchange standards.
