Business Needs

The group’s infrastructure was based on various mail servers, with no centralized infrastructure management. Such a state of IT infrastructure had become a limiting factor for further business development. Since the main objective of the project was to provide support for improved communication, the company initially considered both on-premise and cloud solutions. Cloud services were selected, yielding the company a significant reduction in initial investments in equipment and software licenses, and in subsequent administrative expenses.

Solution

Microsoft Office 365 has been implemented gradually, as it was necessary to train the employees and identify the long-term needs of the company. In the first stage the company deployed Exchange Online P1 plan, providing cloud-based email services for employees. The company then made the transition to Office 365 Enterprise E1 and consequently the E3 plan, which enabled employees to access Microsoft Office 2013 desktop applications for powerful productivity. Lync Online was introduced to enable company-wide instant messaging, voice, and video communication. SharePoint Online brought document management and collaboration features, along with advanced CMS abilities for creating intranet portals and external websites. In addition, the company plans to migrate to the E4 plan to implement full-featured, unified communications connected to conventional telephone networks.
