Ford Motor Company Ford Explores Ways to Connect Drivers to Health with Windows and Cloud Technology

Working with Microsoft, Healthrageous, and BlueMetal Architects, Ford is researching innovative ways for people to connect driving time to health and wellness. Developers at Healthrageous and BlueMetal Architects used Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2011, Microsoft HealthVault, and Windows Azure to build a prototype application for slate devices running the Windows 7 operating system. Through an interface that combines touchscreen, voice, and biometric features, drivers can safely input health and behavioral data while they drive. The information is processed with other health data and presented in graphical reports at the end of the driver’s trip. By using slates that run Windows 7, Ford and its partners were able to use built-in capabilities such as touch, voice synthesis, and voice recognition to build and deliver the trial application quickly and easily.
