At the Microsoft China R&D Group, we work at the cutting-edge of technology, innovating solutions that impact millions of people around the world. With a focus on our four core pillars of research, incubation, development and partnership, our engineers and researchers are passionate about creating the world's best solutions and experiences.

We have more than 1,200 employees across our campuses in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen with plans to grow to 3,000 in the next three to five years. By unifying all Microsoft's R&D efforts in China, we have built a strong organization that supports all facets of R&D. The Microsoft China R&D Group is comprised of Microsoft Research Asia, Microsoft Advanced Technology Center and product R&D teams. We have also established a strategic partnership arm to foster collaboration with the local IT ecosystem.

Our core expertise centers on the five main areas of mobile and embedded technology, web technology, digital entertainment, server and tools and emerging markets. Through these strategic areas, we are collaborating closely with our global counterparts to make the information technology realm more accessible and enjoyable for users, as well as giving people in emerging markets greater access to more advanced and practical products and solutions.
