Established in Shanghai by Microsoft in November of 1997, the Customer Service and Support Organization (CSS), initially launched as the Greater China Regional Support Center (GCRSC), represents the first enterprise technical support center to be opened by a Fortune 500 company in Shanghai. It is also an important part of Microsoft's globalization strategy and investment in technical support service.

As one of the six Customer Service and Support Organizations in the world, GCR CSS has offices in several major cities in mainland China including Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou as well as and in Taiwan and Hong Kong. With headquarters located in Shanghai's Metro Tower, the center's more than 600 employees provide comprehensive technical support services for customers from regions in Asia-Pacific, America and Europe. Experts covering almost all Microsoft products provide world-class technical support services and cooperate with other customer service and support organizations. GCR CSS is recognized as a strategic differentiator for CSS organization and serves as a strategic differentiator for Microsoft China.
