Life @ Microsoft

Work

Ready to discover and show what you can do? At Microsoft, people are known—and rewarded—for what they make happen here.

You’ll have lots of stimulation. When you’re surrounded by people who are incurably curious, thrive on pushing limits, and love all that technology can do, it’s hard to get bored.
You’ll have lots of inspiration. From working day to day with outstanding colleagues to attending events where you rub shoulders with industry luminaries, you’ll be hanging out on the cutting edge.
You’ll have lots of freedom. Even though we’ve been around for 30+ years, we haven’t lost our entrepreneurial passion. We don’t do hard-shell briefcases or buttoned-up button-down shirts or perfectly creased pants.
You’ll unleash your creativity. One benefit of being such a prolific company is that we can afford to take risks. So share your crazy ideas, try something new. We’re not afraid of failure—we’re anti-complacency.
You’ll have lots of support. From mentoring and networking programs to online forums, you’ll meet all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds who will help you discover your way.
You’ll learn new skills. Whether you stay here for ten years or two (we hope more!), you’ll acquire skills—from finessing a line of code to specing a cool new product to selling a product with finesse—that will accelerate your career no matter where you decide to take it.
You’ll make it your own. Flexible Work Hours. Set your hours to match your own natural rhythms of productivity, play, and rejuvenation.

Fueling Up
Over 23 million free beverages are consumed on Microsoft’s corporate campus each year. The top two beverages are 2% milk and OJ and the top two sodas are Talking Rain Lemon Lime and Talking Rain Natural. This past year, Microsoft’s 37 cafeterias served an average of 37,500 people every day. The most popular lunch order? Pizza, of course.
