Public Instant Messaging Connectivity
Communicate quickly and efficiently, and share presence and instant messaging (IM) with users of Microsoft Windows Live Messenger, AOL and Yahoo! public IM service providers.
View public IM contacts – such as Yahoo, MSN, or AOL – and Office Communicator 2007 R2 contacts in the same client. Presence status can be shared with colleagues and customers who use different public IM connections. Users can send instant messages to both Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and public IM contacts.
With Office Communications Server 2007 R2, IT administrators can control authorisation to access public IM connections on a per-user or per-group basis, select the public IM service providers to which users can connect, and choose to log and archive messages sent to trusted users of public IM services.
