Intel Expects Twenty Percent Reduction in Audio Conferencing Costs with Unified Communications

Intel is the world’s largest semi-conductor chip maker, based on 2007 revenues of U.S.$38.3 billion. Looking for a unified communications solution to promote efficient collaboration for its global operations, Intel chose Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 as the best solution to meet its needs and has deployed it to all 86,000 employees. Intel Software and Services engineers have worked closely with Microsoft to ensure the software runs efficiently on Intel Xeon servers and PCs with Intel vPro Technology. It recently deployed Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to take advantage of HD quality video, server-based audio conferencing, advanced voice capabilities, and user-friendly desktop sharing. Intel expects that the cost savings from audio conferencing and HD video conferencing will reduce conferencing costs by twenty percent and allow for even greater process efficiencies.

Royal Dutch Shell Envisions Improved Working Environment With Unified Communications

Royal Dutch Shell currently relies on multiple vendors for communications and collaboration services. Since these capabilities are not integrated, they can inhibit the effectiveness of the company’s global teams. To improve the work environment, Shell has chosen Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 to provide a single user interface for all real-time communications. Shell currently has 150,000 users taking advantage of instant messaging and presence and more than 8,000 users for the voice capabilities. Shell is currently testing Office Communications Server 2007 R2, and when fully deployed, the solution will provide an integrated platform for voice, video, instant messaging, and Web conferencing for all users within Shell. Shell will be able to consolidate approximately 200 PBX systems and multiple audio and video conferencing services into a single cost-effective solution.

Lionbridge is a leading provider of language, content, and technology sourcing services. With more than 4,600 employees in 26 countries, the company wanted to make it easier for employees to communicate with each other, while reducing telephony and conferencing costs. Lionbridge enabled all employees for integrated voice over IP, Web conferencing, presence, instant messaging, e-mail, and voice mail by deploying Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, Office Communicator 2007, and Exchange Server 2007. Lionbridge improved this solution with integrated audio conferencing and improved voice connectivity, options by upgrading to Office Communications Server 2007 R2. The project is expected to produce annual benefits of more than U.S.$3 million when fully deployed. Credit Agricole SA is Europe’s leading banking group in terms of retail banking revenues. The bank has over 9,089 branches in France and operates in 70 countries with 161,800 employees worldwide. Using the improved conferencing capabilities in Microsoft Communications Server 2007 R2, Credit Agricole plans to facilitate enhanced collaboration, helping financial experts share information more easily and make better business decisions. The company expects to reduce travel by ten to twenty percent and estimates that annual conferencing costs could decrease by C150,000 (US$205,177) for just one subsidiary with 5,000 employees. RealPage is a software vendor serving more than 20,000 customers through offices in the United States and India.
