In order to make communication through Office Communications Server 2007 R2 easy and intuitive, Microsoft partners offer many devices, such as handsets, headsets, speakerphones, and webcams, that carry the “Optimized for Microsoft Office Communicator” word mark. These devices, which have been qualified by Microsoft, offer plug-and-play installation, high quality audio and video, and a tight level of integration with Office Communicator 2007 R2. You can view the full list of certified devices here.
Cordless headsets: Workers who spend much of their time on the phone can move freely, even away from their desk, while communicating through a cordless headset and Office Communicator 2007 R2. Some certified Bluetooth headsets enable you to use the same highly-portable headset for calls on both your mobile phone and Office Communicator 2007 R2.
Handsets: Users who prefer to use a phone with a traditional form can use USB handset devices or standalone IP phones that integrate with Office Communicator 2007 R2 on their PC. Headset accessories that plug into these devices can also be used for extra convenience for users who need to take voice calls while typing.
Headsets: With Office Communicator 2007 R2, USB headsets allow workers, who spend much of their time at the computer, to talk while having both hands free to type. With a headset, there is no need to hold up a phone to your ear, and unlike a speakerphone, your conversation is private. Because these headsets are highly portable, you can easily pack them away for voice and video calls while traveling.
Room videoconferencing devices: Collaboration improves with the use of devices that show everyone in a room and automatically track the person who is currently speaking. These devices provide remote participants with a 360-degree view of the conference room, high-quality audio and video that follows the flow of conversation.
Speakerphones: Together with Office Communicator 2007 R2 on their PC, portable USB speakerphones allows workers who travel extensively to make hands-free phone calls from any hotel room, airport lounge, or other location where they are connected to the Internet.
Webcams: Real-time video adds a new dimension to standard voice communications and enables users to pick up on nonverbal cues that might otherwise go unnoticed. Certified webcams offer high video quality in video calls and conferences, both with other Office Communicator 2007 R2 users as well as with third-party video conferencing systems that interoperate with Office Communications Server 2007 R2.
