Yeah, I'm only miffed that she got to write the column, given that we both
got Ferrari notebooks. And I love mine!

Yeah, but since I vr0000000med before you did, it's only fair that I
got the column <G>. My upcoming column on the Vista End User
Experience was also written using the 4000 ;-)

Have you been able to get wireless working in Vista? That's the big one I
seem to be missing at the moment.

Eh? What's memory got to do with wireless driver support?

And I have Vista through my MSDN subscription, which AFAIK doesn't get me
access to any beta newsgroups...

if you have more than 1 gig of memory:

bcdedit -set TRUNCATEMEMORY 1073741824

there's a bug in the base broadcom wireless driver

Well, I finally got around to installing the December CTP (5270), and
thought I'd take another look. Had to dig around to find this again, but
it meant that I have everything working in Vista x64 on my Ferrari.

Now if only the Virtual Server 2005 R2 networking was functional...
(starts hunting)

True. But then, you only vr000000med because I pointed you at it. :)

Ah, well, just sour grapes. Good article, btw.

  Barb,

Enjoyed your column. Just purchased an HP notebook with the Turion and XP
Media Center. I'd like to know your thoughts on upgrading to 64-bit XP
professional. I will also be using ATI's usb tv tuner on this notebook.

Thanks,

Charles Eppler

I'd wait for Vista at this point. My Ferrari 4000 is happily running
Vista x64 Ultimate which include MCE functionality. No MCE in XP
x64, unfortunately.

Was the HP sold as Vista Prenium Ready? If you post a link to it, I
might be able to say more. Also, can you post a link and info on the
ATI USB tuner? The issue will be x64 drivers that are signed.

It was nice of Barb to comment so favorably on this ng. Quite a lot of work
went into the column and it reads very nicely.
