  Question
Sometimes I need to add several Favorites during one IE8 session. To do
this I select a particular folder I have previously labeled with a topic, and
save the Favorite for the web page that is displayed. Then on moving on to a
different web page, and proceeding to save it in the same folder, IE8 makes
me go search for and locate the same folder of Favorites again.

We did not have this problem with IE7. With it, saving additional Favorites
caused the same folder to open. It was not necessary to go search for and
locate the folder again.

Is there a way to do the same function with IE8? (Or do I have to go
re-install IE7?)

What you describe is (annoying) new behavior in IE8. Try this workaround
instead:

1. Open Favorites Center and "pin" it open, wide enough so that you can work
in it.

2. Open the (sub)folder in question.

3. In the same IE window, navigate to the page you want to add then "grab"
the page's Address Bar icon with your cursor and "drag" it to the desired,
open folder.

4. Repeat #3 for any other pages.

I couldn't get that to work. Once I open the window to select the folder, I
get an error doorbell when trying to do anything with another open window.

Do I need to go back to IE7?

I did this by navigating to the history folder - finding the URL,
right clcking and selecting add to favourites.

I couldn't do it because as soon as you move your cursor to the address bar,
the Favorites Sidebar disappears from view. So all you can do is place the
address next to the orange star and "move". You don't get the option which
specific folder you wish to move it to.

Feel free to begin your own new thread instead of hijacking someone else's.

Then you didn't follow the instructions correctly.
Specifically you didn't "pin" the Favorites bar first.
E.g. press Ctrl-Shift-I and then try using it.

My bad! Previously posted a 'blank' reply ;-)

PA Bear, YOU RULE!!
Since IE6 many of us have been searching for simple workaround to expanded
Add to Favorites dropdown. Hopefully, next iteration of IE should address
this issue.
