I have tried updating my computer with the latest security update,
(KB928366). Every time I get an error code 0x643. I'm running Windows XP.
I have tried several of the suggestions on the Microsoft web site to no
avail. Please help. Thanks.
When you try to install an update for the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, or 2.0,
you may receive Windows Update error code "0x643" or Windows Installer error
code "1603":

Actually I think the main problem with having MU install .NF updates
is that doing so obscures all diagnostics. For example, in order to install
..NF 3.5 I discovered that I had to first uninstall some beta components.
A normal install told me this explicitly. The same information was available
via MU but buried in an MSI log file that was not referenced by any other
diagnostics the user would see.
