  Question
  Hi,
I am not an expert in web building but i am trying hard to understand and i
have basic knowledge on HTML and using expression web for my website
designing. I want to make a page in my wbesite dedicated for videos but i do
not know how to start it, using expresssion web.

I saw this video but the quality is so poor i cant see what the person in
clicking on
http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-us&tab=soapbox&vid=289014fc-7de2-4b0c-bf91-caa221edd5db

any help to a beginer is highly appreciated.

Thank U
Alex

  Answer
If you look at the first video in the series:
http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-us&tab=soapbox&vid=8e37a7ca-5d47-41ce-a092-62d66a0a9eab

you see AJAX controls in the IDE. As you a) cannot add controls to the
toolbox in EW1 and b) there are no AJAX controls in EW1, I would assume this
is an internal alpha or beta copy of EW2. Microsoft HAS touted AJAX in EW2
at mix, as highlighted in this blog
http://blog.by-expression.com/index.php/mix07-expression-web-10-now-and-future/

I would imagine this is a MIX video, as well.

To do Silverlight 1.0 in EW, you have to pull the content in yourself. For
the record, Silverlight 1.,0 is JavaScript enabled and rather hands on to
develop, with the exception of creating assets in Design and marrying them
in Blend. Silverlight 1.1 adds .NET coding and will still run on platforms
like Mac and Linux.

  Hi,

Thanks for the video, from you messeage i understand that Silverlight is
still not integrated with EW completely in design mode we'll have to wait for
an update or some service packs.

Thanks for the response.

Silverlight wasn't even in beta when Expression Web was released. Export
your Silverlight to an html page then import that page and any other files
created into Expression Web.

You'll have to wait until Visual Web Developer 2008 that is supposed to
release later this month or for EW v2.
At least I think that VWD08 will support Silverlight like VS08, I'll have to
take a look.

That is correct, unless they back off (unlikely). The latest for Express is
Beta 2.

The RTM is supposed to be out in November (for MSDN?).

The Silverlight ASP.NET controls (if that's what you're referring to)
aren't going to be available in the release of VS or VWD 2008. ASP.NET
Futures includes enhanced Silverlight support, but that won't release
until next year. You can, however, download the beta now and it does
have a go-live license.

Still won't work with xWeb.
