  Question
Will you release drivers that will make the chatpad that fits on the xbox360
wireless controller work on a PC. If so when (When it is done, month,
quarter, year) or if not, Will you clearly indicate on the packaging that it
is not compatible with PC so users will not be stuck with a product they
cannot return. This would make a wonderful attachment to any multimedia PC.

Is Microsoft the actual manufacturer of the Chatpad? If not, the question
should be addressed to the actual manufacturer.

The actual product is under the label of microsoft. as far as addressing the
actual maufacturer site I have put the following post on the xbox technical
site.

http://forums.xbox.com/16229203/ShowPost.aspx

The sites they list for support is the www.xbox.com site but the site does
not reference the pc side of the product. since this all falls under the
ownership of microsoft I directed the questions to both parties to prevent
there being traped between redirection.

The actual product link is as follows:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360messengerkit/

and to show that I am not the only person with this question when you
perform a google search for chatpad pc, these are the responces you get.

http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=chatpad+pc&meta=

And searching using microsofts live search seems to indicate the same
intrest in PC drivers.

http://search.sympatico.msn.ca/results.aspx?q=chatpad+pc+drivers&form=QBRE

  Yup, its manufactured by microsoft.

Just to be clear on the reasons why I, and it appears others out there would
like drivers for the chatpad.

I would like to use the chatpad for keyboard input on my PC.

Just trying to give the people at microsoft the heads up on the demand for
drivers for using the chatpad as a PC keyboard before the reverse engenering
starts up. ( I would perfer offical drivers for this purpose)

They also need to release mapping software for the controller that includes mouse mapping to the analog sticks. You can calibrate the controller through windows but the analog mapping and triggers are all wrong. It's supposed to auto map to games that are supported by it , but there they dropped the ball. A program similar to Nyko's Air-Max flow would be perfect . I know theres 3rd party mapping software out there. But why not get it from the source and for free, ... one of the 2 outside software I've found is a $20 shareware program

I too assumed there was a PC driver for the chatpad when I bought it. The
packaging led me to believe this to be the case. Are there plans for a PC
driver?

thanks

Here here! I bought this last week and have been endlessly searching for
some type of emulator software to make this work on my PC in place of my
keyboard and mouse. The ability to be free to walk/move around and type
would be almost invaluable to me.

I am also in the same boat. I purchased a chatpad with the understanding that
it would work with my Windows-based PC as a keyboard. Apparently it doesn't.
At least not now.

Are there any other instances where Microsoft has released an XBox component
that does not work with a Windows Based PC? I know that the controllers work,
but what about the driving wheels, etc. OR is this the first product that it
doesn't work with.

There is a great free mapping program out there called joy2key just do a
google search for it by name. it is not very intuitive but it does everything
I need as far as remapping the buttons or assigning mouse controls to the
analog stick. I use it to have the xbox 360 controler as a remote for my
system. the only thing missing is a keyboard, thats why I started this post
for the chatpad driver.

We weren't sure if the chatpad had a Windows driver, so we emailed Microsoft,
who were evidently mistaken when they replied:

QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS
Message: My name is *** I have Cerebal Palsey and have no use of my hands,
so I use a head pointer to do all my typing. At the minute I use a Datalux
keyboard which is smaller than normal and means I don’t have to move my head
so much. If possible I would like my keyboard to be smaller approximately the
size of a mobile phone keypad.

Recently I saw the xbox 360 messenger kit keyboard made by yourselves and
wondered if there is a connecter which would make it compatable with my
computer, which is a Dell Inspiron with windows Vista. I also use the
numeric keypad to control the mouse through the accessibility package that
windows has.

If you do not think the keyboard will work with my set-up can you suggest a
small keyboard which will do the job.

Hoping to hear from you soon with some suggestions.

Thanks ***

i'm sure you guys in microsoft can come out with a pc driver for the xbox 360
chatpad, that would be a no brainer for your computer engineers...why not try
making a little money and charge like $10- $20 for it? i know i'd pay that
amount. its definitely a reasonable price to add functionality for the pc,
think of all the posibilities....it's a win-win situation, your happy, the
consumer's happy.....PLEASE COME OUT WITH THE PC (XP/VISTA) DRIVERS! THANK
YOU.

(MS-MVP)? Really?

The Microsoft ChatPad, which attaches to the Microsoft 360 Controller is
indeed a Microsoft product.

How shall we contact them to obtain drivers for this Microsoft product,
Which Microsoft Manufactures?

I am also very interested in using this as a keyboard for my pc. The wireless
receiver I just bought with the chatpad claims that it “will work with future
Xbox 360 Wireless Accessories”. This doesn’t seem to be the case and is VERY
misleading! The chatpad is a “wireless accessory” (because it plugs directly
into my wireless controller just like the headset) but does not work with my
wireless receiver! I am returning my chatpad and wireless receiver today. I
will purchase them again in a heartbeat if this is ever fixed. I think the
receiver packaging should indicate that it does not support the chatpad,
again VERY misleading.
