The windows defender engine file has a serious CPU usage problem!
At any given moment my CPU fan will crank up to 100%. I'll bring up "task
Manager" and the CPU will be at 100%. When I check for the culprit it's
Defender's MsMpEng.exe file using all available CPU resources.
Whats up with this? It's totality unacceptable and Windows Defender will be
replaced on my system if Microsoft doesn't fix this soon!

Please post in one of the newsgroups specifically set up for the beta
(software that isn't finished and is still in the bug-checking phase)
Windows Defender program. Microsoft.public.security.homeusers is not one of
them.
Thank you for the information. I will re-post there.
Thanks

This is June 23 2007. Really, is MsMpEng.exe still in beta!? I am having
the same problems with my Thinkpad A31p/XP SP2 system.
Is there a way to "nice" this program so that it does not eat up all
resources?

At this time, support for the beta version of Microsoft Windows
Defender Anti-Spyware is being provided through the following Microsoft
newsgroups: (This is *not* one of them) -
