When I turn on my computer the past week, I get an error
message "Windows Defender application failed to initialize 9X800106 ba.)
A problem caused Windows Defender Service to stop .........
Any suggestions? I cannot find a solution on this.
Are you using Windows 2000? If yes, it seems it is because Windows Defender
do not support Windows 2000 anymore.
Please see System Requirement for Windows Defender:
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later; Windows XP Service Pack 2 or
later

If you have the current version, please wait for awhile until Microsoft
provide another update to extend the expiration and/or provide a new
version/build that will fix this issue.

Best to post your query there instead of to a Windows Update newsgroup.
