Dubai-based Al Suwaidi Computer Company is an industry leader. It has four IT divisions, three office supply divisions, and a Reprographics Center. What’s more, legacy systems that used excessive amount of energy were putting pressure on bottom line profits, and training new employees was taking months due to the time required for creating and updating training manuals.

Accelerating Everyday Tasks
The Windows 7 ReadyBoostTM feature helps PCs respond faster, so users do not spend time waiting while their computer boots up or resumes after being idle. Windows Desktop Search and Jump Lists help facilitate faster, easier file searches. All users have to do is type in a question or phrase in the Instant Search box to find files and folders across the network. If they want to access a recently viewed file or store commonly used files together, they can see everything in a single pane with Jump Lists.

Since Windows 7 provides intuitive functions like Network Connection Wizard, which helps simplify PC connections to wireless, VPN, and other networks, and Location Aware Printing, which automatically detects default printers, Al Suwaidi can access customer resources more easily to solve customer technical problems in less time, giving them more time to work towards strategic business goals.

Increasing Efficiency
Part of being efficient means not only having more time for productivity, but also having systems that alleviate cost pressures by reducing energy consumption. With Power Management, users can expect just that. This feature helps PCs cut down on energy consumption by powering down unused components, which also helps to extend laptop battery life.

“A lot of the work we do is performed off-site at the customer’s office,” said Dekshin. “With Network Connection Wizard, Power Management, and Location Aware Printing, we can quickly establish optimal working conditions in those environments. This is great for us and our customers.”

Power Management in particular is a critical enhancement for Al Suwaidi, which relies on laptop use for remote problem-solving activities. “Windows 7 provides dramatically increased battery life,” remarked Dekshin. “This is so much better than anything we’ve seen before. It saves money, and the planet.”

Dekshin also pointed out that all the performance upgrades have significantly reduced his company’s operating costs – a feature also realized by its customers. “We’ve seen a huge increase in performance with Windows 7, without having to spend any additional money,” Dekshin said. “With better power management, we’re talking about $105,000 in savings for our company alone,” he added.
