Microsoft has united around design principles that are modern, intuitive, and implements a playful visual language that extends into our entire product portfolio, from Office to Bing to Windows Phone to Xbox, and beyond.
Have a look at what we're up to. We'd love to meet you if you're interested in finding out more about us.
Design at Microsoft
We're honest about our medium: a connected, digital world. We celebrate this world with vibrant and dynamic typography, color, and motion. We stay away from ornamentation or decoration.
People at Microsoft
We imagine, design and create experiential products and services that enhance and enrich the
lives of millions.
We work in a collaborative fast-paced workspace with whiteboards, stickies and design concepts lining the walls of our design studios. We rely on each other's diverse skills and backgrounds to generate and explore ideas, and ultimately evaluate their potential impact. We work hard but always have fun along the way.
The user experience profession has come a long way at Microsoft since the inception of the company. Over the years we've amassed an amazing army of designers, researchers, developers, prototypers, typographers, program managers, ethnographers, writers and creative thinkers that are changing the world with innovative software and hardware solutions.
Projects at Microsoft
We know you have a unique view of the world. Come share it with
us and help shape the future.
Our projects are complex and diverse. They target billions of customers and come to life on many different devices. But we also sweat the details as that is where the magic often happens. Our vision is to create experiences that combine the magic of software with the power of Internet services across a world of devices.
Vision at Microsoft
Technology should start working on our behalf to make the
complex stuff simple, and the
time-consuming stuff fast.
We create artifacts that visualize how future technology could play a part in our lives. Select scenarios come to life in vision videos by portraying the evolution of key trends over time. This helps spark discussion about the role of technology and how we can harness it to enrich peoples lives.
These videos also play a key role in our internal processes as well as external communications and partner engagements.
Research at Microsoft
One of the best ways to get people thinking about the future is to show them what it will look like.

Creating prototypes and experiments is a great way to get people talking. It helps make the unreal or unfeasible feel closer to reality.
Sometimes the projects we work on are a little risky and not everything turns out to be uber brilliant. But, innovation is a messy process, and it's important to learn quickly and keep taking bold steps.
Our experiments aren't always publically available, but we're constantly building, taking feedback, and iterating in close partnership with the rest of the Office team.

If we sit around and talk about the future we're not helping to make it real any sooner. So we spend a lot of time on research and building prototypes to help influence the direction of future products and services.
We're not all talk!
We love to build stuff too.
We're looking for the best and brightest minds to help us advance the state of the art. We look for inspired people who bring an active curiosity and a flexible, can-do attitude to the team.
Our collaborative teams blur the lines between work and fun. We're interested in designers, developers, researchers, program managers, and testers, so if you think you've got what it takes, we encourage you to apply.
We are always looking for people with passion, creativity, and the skills to tackle tough problems.
