Patch eliminates a security vulnerability in a utility that converts
Microsoft Word 5.0 documents to more recent formats. This conversion
utility ships as part of the East Asian versions of Microsoft Word
97 and Word 98 (Japanese version). The vulnerability could allow arbitrary
code to be executed on a machine that opened a specially modified Word
document. By providing a specially modified Word document, a user could
run malicious code by using a classic buffer overrun technique when the
conversion utility processed it.
