Overview

Microsoft recommends that you use the Office Update site to determine if your computer requires this update before installing it.

Visio 2002 Security Update: KB831932 offers the highest levels of stability and security available for Microsoft Visio. This update fixes a vulnerability where a specially crafted image could allow an attacker’s code to run on a user’s machine due to a flaw in the graphics interpreter code.

This full-file update can be used by IT Administrators. Information on how to deploy in a corporate environment is available in the Microsoft Office XP Resource Kit.

Release History:
  • Version 1.0 - Released 9/14/04.

  • Version 2.0 - Released 10/12/04. Addressed patching issue when applying the update on a computer where MSI 3.0 is installed.


It is recommended that all users that have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed run the current version of the update even if a previous version was used.

Installation instructions
If you have Microsoft Visio 2002, do one of the following:

  • Use Office Update on the Office Online Web site (recommended). Office Update automatically detects Office and prompts you to install updates and service packs that bring Office programs up-to-date.


  • Install only Visio 2002 Security Update: KB831932. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Download the .exe file by clicking on the Download button at the top of the page, and then save the file to your hard disk drive.
      • Visio2002-KB831932-v2-FullFile-ENU.EXE: You might need to provide the installation source during patch installation if you have previously updated your product.
    2. It is recommended that you quit any programs you are running.

    3. In Windows Explorer, double-click the .exe file that you saved to your hard disk drive, and follow the instructions on the screen.
