Overview
The MPS Reporting utility PFE version is utilized to gather detailed system status and configuration information. The data collected will assist with fault isolation and general health-checks. The PFE version of MPS_REPORTS gathers a wide range of diagnostic information from Windows and limited information for server applications installed such as SQL or Exchange.
The MPS Reporting Tool is self-extracting and will run on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 x86. Windows Server 2003 x64 (AMD64), and Windows Server 2003 for Itanium.
This reporting utility DOES NOT make any registry changes to the operating system and is entirely a batch command utility. There are files extracted during run-time as the utility is running. The reports gathered are compressed into a ".cab" file and then deleted. The compressed .cab file is normally 2-5 MB depending on the system configuration and is therefore easy to transfer in case the data is needed for analysis.
Important Notes
You may download and use an unlimited number of copies of MPS Reports solely for the purpose of gathering system information necessary for Microsoft Premier Services to provide you with technical support services requested by you. All other purposes are not supported by Microsoft. Please refer to the EULA for more detailed information regarding your usage rights.

Between 100-500 MB of free disk space (at most)
The user running the utility must have administrative privileges on the system.
During runtime there are uncompressed text files that could possibly consume 100 MB or more or more of disk space, depending on the size of the event logs. Most of the space is freed when the reporting tool finishes, leaving behind only the tools folder and the .cab file, which can be deleted if no longer needed.

Instructions
The MPS Reporting utility needs to be run locally on the system that information
is being gathered from. There is no facility to run the reporting tool over the
network. The MPS Reporting tool can be run from a Remote Desktop session.
- Download the MPS Reporting utility to the system.
- Double-click the MPS Reporting utility.
- An End-User License Agreement (EULA) will be presented and if agreed to will start the reporting utility process.
- A CMD prompt window will open titled "Microsoft Premier Services Reporting Utility ...".
- The utility will pause asking if you want to include the System Information utility report. If no response is given "y" will be chosen in 10 seconds and the reporting utility will resume running.
- At this point a README file will open in Notepad, which can then be saved, printed, or closed. This README file contains all the details of MPS Reports such as the reports gathered, the tools used, known issues, etc.
- Upon completion the MPS Reporting utility will open a Windows Explorer window that will contain one or more compressed ".cab" files. This one file is in most cases all that needs to be uploaded to your services engineer. The remaining files are folders are not needed for report analysis.
- The entire \MPSReports folder under the %SystemRoot% folder can be deleted if desired.
