Overview
The offline folder (.ost) file integrity check tool scans the offline folder file on your local computer and the folder file on the Microsoft Exchange server and compares the items and folders in each file. If the tool finds any differences between the files, it will attempt to correct them. Use this tool if you are experiencing synchronization errors or offline folder file data integrity problems.

Instructions
To install this download
- You may want to print this page to use as a reference when you are offline.
- Download the file from this page by clicking the Download link above and following the instructions in the dialog boxes.
- Quit Outlook® if it is running.
- Double-click the Scanost.exe program file on your hard disk to start the setup program.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
Instructions for use:
- Quit Outlook if it is running.
- On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Outlook 2000 OST Integrity Check Tool.
- To check every folder in the offline folder file (OST), click Scan all folders.
To check specific folders, click Choose folders to scan, select the folders you want to check, and click Begin Scan.
A log of the actions taken by the tool is stored in the Deleted Items folder and can be viewed in Outlook.
To remove this download:
- On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then choose Control Panel. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- In the list of programs on the Install/Uninstall tab, find Outlook 2000 OST Integrity Check Tool and highlight it. Click Add/Remove.
- Confirm that you are certain you want to uninstall this software by clicking Yes.
