This XP Embedded SP1 Database update addresses ten (10) new or reissued Microsoft Security Bulletins: MS05-041, MS05-042, MS05-044, MS05-045, MS05-046, MS05-047, MS05-048, MS05-049, MS05-050, MS05-051, and MS05-052. Additionally, this update rolls in all previous SP1 database security updates into a single update.

Overview

This Microsoft Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 component update addresses ten (10) new or reissued security bulletins. After applying this package to an XP Embedded database, the following issues will be resolved:

Note that MS05-048: Vulnerability in the Microsoft Collaboration Data Objects Could Allow Remote Code Execution (907245) is identified in the package as KB number 901017. This is consistent with the KB article used for Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1 package for this security update.

Instructions

THIS UPDATE IS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT DATABASE, NOT THE INSTALLED IMAGE.

Important: This update requires Repository look-up may cause incorrect files to be copied (Q811279) be installed prior to this fix.

  1. Download WindowsXPESP1-October2005-x86-ENU.exe from this page.
  2. Execute WindowsXPESP1-October2005-x86-ENU.exe on a machine with the Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 tools installed.
This package will automatically import updated and new .sld files into the current database specified in Component Database Manager. It will also copy new binaries into the Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 QFE Repository folder.

Some of the .sld files may also require importing new repository objects. The new repositories will be created on the repository root holding the main Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 repository.
