Overview
Microsoft® BizTalk® Adapter for Web services provides ways to expose e-business functions over the Internet. Microsoft BizTalk Adapter for Web Services provides a set of functions (Web methods) that allows client systems, such as Microsoft SharePoint™ Portal Server, to gain access to back-end systems through Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002.

Note: This product contains an optional feature that will work only when Microsoft® SharePoint™ Portal Server version 2.0 is installed on the same network. This release of SharePoint™ Portal Server is not yet available.
SharePoint Single Sign-on Component – This installation is required by the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Beta customers that plan to use the BizTalk Adapter for Web Services and BizTalk Server 2002 to integrate with line-of-business applications. The components included in this installation replace the Microsoft Single Sign-on Service that was originally installed with the BizTalk Adapter for Web Services, and will only work with third-party adapters that are designed to use the Single Sign-on functionality delivered with SharePoint Portal Server 2003.
