Overview

Microsoft Alerts can be used to deliver customer communication to computer desktops, cellular phones, wireless personal digital assistants (PDAs), or any e-mail address—all based on the customer's delivery preferences.

What's New in Version 6.0

With this release, Microsoft Alerts is now implemented as a Web service. Alert submission and subscription management are performed through Web method calls. Version 6.0 includes the following features and enhancements:

  • Support for longer, richer e-mail alerts
  • Support for customizing content according to delivery endpoint
  • Larger, more customizable pop-up messages
  • Broadcast lists
  • New tools and samples and updated documentation
  • Delivery channel for Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000 Notification Services
  • Testing build of MSN Messenger version 6.1

System Requirements

  • Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows Server 2003; Windows XP
  • Microsoft Alerts can be implemented on any system capable of making standard Web service method calls.
  • Microsoft® .NET Framework version 1.1 is required to use the client-side tools and libraries included in the software development kit (SDK).
  • The Microsoft Alerts delivery channel for SQL Server Notification Services requires Notification Services, Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework version 1.1.
