Overview

Office 2000 Update: Service Pack 2 (SP-2) provides the latest product updates to Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1). Office 2000 SP-2 is particularly useful to corporate customers, and can also be installed by small business or individual users. Many of the updates that are currently available on the Tools on the Web Web site are included in the Office 2000 SP-2 update. Among the updates included are: This update is localized for many languages. For a listing of languages available, see Office 2000 Service Pack (SP-2) International Releases. Note If your organization uses Microsoft Outlook for Macintosh and Microsoft Exchange Server before updating to Office 2000 SP-2, please read the important information in Outlook 2000 SP-2 and Outlook for Macintosh Rules Compatibility. Note In order to install Office 2000 SP-2, you must have your original Office 2000 CD-ROMs available.


Office 2000 SP-2 does not contain any updates for the Office 2000 SR-1 CD2, CD3, or CD4 and is only applicable to CD1 of:
  • Office 2000 SR-1 Premium
  • Office 2000 SR-1 Professional
  • Office 2000 SR-1 Small Business Office
  • Office 2000 SR-1 Standard
  • Office 2000 Developer



in addition to the following standalone Office 2000 SR-1 applications:
  • Outlook® 2000 SR-1
  • Access 2000 SR-1
  • Excel 2000 SR-1
  • Word 2000 SR-1
  • FrontPage® 2000 SR-1
  • PowerPoint® 2000 SR-1
  • Access RunTime 2000 SR-1



Before you install this update, make sure that you are currently using the SR-1 versions of all the Office 2000 applications that are installed on your machine. To determine which version of Office 2000 is currently installed on your computer, please follow these steps:
  • In Microsoft Windows®, on the Start menu click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  • Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  • Make sure that all Microsoft Office 2000 installed programs listed are the SR-1 versions.
  • If the SR-1 versions are not listed, you need to install the Office 2000 Service Release 1a (SR-1a) Update.
  • If SR-1 is displayed, then you already have SR-1 or SR-1a installed on your computer, and you only need to install SP-2.



Office 2000 SP-2 will install successfully even if one or more of the publicly available updates listed above has already been installed on your computer.


You can obtain the Office 2000 SR-1a and Office 2000 SP-2 updates free of charge on CD-ROM in North America. To order the CD online, go to the Office 2000 SP2 order form. The CD contains the SR-1a update as well as the SP2 update.

Office 2000 MultiLanguage Pack SP-2

For complete Office 2000 SP-2 functionality if you are using an Office 2000 MultiLanguage Pack, you will need:


Office 2000 SP-2 is fully compatible with Office 2000 and Office 2000 SR-1 MultiLanguage Packs.


Caution SR-1 or SR-1a must be installed before installing SP-2. Make sure that SR-1 or SR-1a is installed before performing this installation. Notes For additional setup information, refer to the Microsoft Knowledge Base article (Q276257)- OFF2000: List of Issues Fixed in Office 2000 Service Pack 2.

To ensure the integrity of your Office 2000 installation, the Office 2000 Update: Service Pack 2 (SP-2) requires access to the Office 2000 CD or your network installation location during the installation process.
