Overview
Microsoft® has released the FrontPage® 97 patch to bring FrontPage 97 into Year 2000 (Y2K) compliance. To determine if you require this patch, please read the information below.
Note FrontPage 98 is already Year 2000 compliant.
Who should install this patch?
If you plan to continue using FrontPage 97 in the year 2000 or later, install the patch.
Note for users of Windows NT 3.51
After running fp97-y2k.exe, you may see the following error message:
FrontPage 97 Year 2000 Patch
Error creating process "rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 128 C:\temp\IXP000.TMP\FP97Y2K.inf". Reason: The system cannot find the file specified.
To solve this problem, follow these steps:
- Click on fp97-y2k.exe and when the error message appears, do NOT click OK.
- Switch to File Manager and open the C:\temp\IXP000.TMP directory. The path may be different and depends on the location of your %TEMP% variable.
- Click on the fp20tl.dll file and copy it to the C:\WINNT35\system directory. The path may be and depends on where Windows NT was installed.
- If prompted to overwrite the existing file, click Yes.
- Switch back to the FrontPage 97 Year 2000 Patch and click OK on the error message. The temporary files will then be removed.

- Double click the fp97-y2k.exe file to install the Microsoft FrontPage 97 patch.
