Overview
Enabling Outside User Scenarios provides an alternative to using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and describes how Live Communications Server 2003 should be deployed to enable outside users to connect using Transport Layer Security (TLS). When properly configured, users will have access to presence and instant messaging from the public network. This document introduces a new server role (the Live Communications Server Proxy) that is deployed in the corporate perimeter network (DMZ) to enable this scenario.
