Overview

The Rapid Implementation Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 include two tools designed to shorten deployment time and enable greater Partner productivity by reducing the time required for routine implementation tasks. These tools are also designed to work with the Microsoft Dynamics Sure Step Methodology.

The Rapid Configuration Tool for Microsoft Dynamics GP quickly configures core application setup data to meet specific business needs. By using one of thirteen available industry templates, or a customized configuration template created in Microsoft Office Excel 2007, a new Microsoft Dynamics GP company can be configured easily within the intuitive user interface. Settings and data such as the chart of accounts, fiscal years, payment terms, shipping methods, taxes, core financial and distribution module setup, and more can be quickly set up using this tool.

The Rapid Migration Tool for Microsoft Dynamics GP quickly converts key Intuit QuickBooks company data to Microsoft Dynamics GP within an easy-to-use interface. Customers using QuickBooks Pro (2003 - 2008), Premier (2003 - 2008), or Enterprise (3.0 - 8.0) benefit from the tool's ability to efficiently migrate the following data:
Master Records: Accounts (including opening balances), Customers, Vendors, Items, Employees
Open Transactions*: Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Payables, Receivables, Inventory (including inventory levels)
Configuration Settings: Company Address, Customer Type, Payment Terms, Shipping Methods, Sales Tax, Vendor Type, Fiscal Years

*Note: Open transactions include those transactions not yet fully paid or applied. Transactions that have been fully paid and/or applied to another document are not migrated. System Requirements

Installing the Rapid Implementation Tools:
To install the Rapid Implementation Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP, your computer must meet the following system requirements. See below for additional requirements for using a specific tool or tool feature.
Operating Systems
• Microsoft Windows Vista
• Windows Server 2003
• Windows XP
Note: The Rapid Implementation Tools are not supported on 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows.

Working with the Rapid Implementation Tools:
In order to use the user interface of the Rapid Migration Tool or the Rapid Configuration Tool, your computer must meet the following system requirements. See below for requirements when working only with the Excel configuration templates or master record file(s).
Operating Systems
• Microsoft Windows Vista
• Windows Server 2003
• Windows XP
Note: The Rapid Implementation Tools are not supported on 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows.
SQL Server
• Microsoft SQL Server 2000
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
• Microsoft SQL Server 2008
• Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition
Note: The Rapid Implementation Tools are not supported on 64-bit versions of Microsoft SQL Server.
Software Components
• Microsoft Dynamics GP Release 10.0 Feature Pack or later
• Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (only required if editing Excel workbooks)
• Intuit QuickBooks Pro (2003 - 2008), Premier (2003 - 2008), or Enterprise (3.0 - 8.0)(only required if migrating QuickBooks data using the Rapid Migration Tool)
Note: The Rapid Migration Tool requires Microsoft Dynamics GP, SQL Server and Intuit QuickBooks installed all on the same computer.

Working with Excel workbooks/templates:
If you are only working with the Excel workbooks/templates, only the following components are required:
• Microsoft Office Excel 2007
• Rapid Implementation Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP

Instructions

For detailed installation instructions, refer to the RapidImplementationToolsInstallation.pdf available for download on this page. NOTE: Profiles saved from previous rapid migrations will be overwritten by this release. It is recommended that you complete any in-progress migrations prior to upgrading. It is also recommended that any previous versions of the Rapid Implementation Tools be uninstalled prior to this installation.
1. Download Rapid_Tools.exe to your local computer.
2. In the folder where you saved it, double-click Rapid_Tools.exe and click Install. The installer will begin automatically.
3. If the required components are not installed on your computer, the Component Installation window opens. Click Install to install the missing component or components. After all the components are installed, the installation of the Rapid Implementation Tools will continue.
4. Follow the instructions in the window to accept the software license agreement and click Next.
5. In the Select Features window, select the features to install or accept the default to install both Rapid Implementation Tools.
6. Specify the folder where you want the Rapid Implementation Tools installed. After you have specified the installation folder, click Next.
7. If you selected the Rapid Migration Tool as a feature, the Login for Data Transfer window opens. Accept the default domain and user name that is displayed, and enter the password associated with the displayed user. Click Next.
8. In the Installation Program window, click Install.
9. Once the install has successfully finished, click Exit.

Once installed, access the help files for further assistance when actually using the tools by clicking the Help button or F1. The help files detail the specific steps that may be required before and/or after using these tools.

Additional Information

If you wish to edit Configuration Templates or the QuickBooks master records, but do not have Excel 2007, a trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 is available here:

Many Dynamics Partners offer customized migrations from many systems.
