Overview
The Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Isolated) provides a foundation on which you can build your own custom-branded tools environment that runs side-by-side with Visual Studio. Building on the Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Isolated) lets you reuse the Visual Studio IDE in your application so that you can accelerate development of your tools environment by focusing just on your core tooling problem.
This download contains redistributable runtime binaries that you can distribute together with your Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Isolated)-based application. (These binaries are required on all computers that must run the Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Isolated).) To develop and test a Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Isolated)-based application, download the Visual Studio 2010 SDK.

NOTE: Vista RTM/SP1 and Windows Server 2008 RTM/SP1 users -- If you have previously installed Visual Studio 2010 Beta 1 on your system, you will need to fully uninstall the previous beta release prior to installing Beta 2. For more information and a workaround, please go here.
