There are more than 80 new or newly revised Windows collations now available in SQL Server 2008. In some instances, applications using Windows Data Access Components (WDAC), formerly known as Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC), may return errors and lose connections to SQL Server 2008 servers if they try to access data in the new collations. Install this update to patch the client application to handle the new collations correctly.
