Overview

In its continued commitment to interoperability, Microsoft has released an updated SQL Server Driver for PHP. The SQL Server Driver for PHP download is available to all SQL Server users at no additional charge. The SQL Server Driver for PHP is a PHP 5 extension that allows for the reading and writing of SQL Server data from within PHP scripts. The extension provides a procedural interface for accessing data in all editions of SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008.

Version 1.1 of the SQL Server Driver for PHP is now available at SQL Server Driver for PHP v1.1.

System Requirements

  • Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2; Windows Server 2008; Windows Small Business Server 2003 ; Windows Vista Service Pack 1; Windows XP Service Pack 2

  • PHP 5.X.X. For more information about downloading and installing PHP, visit http://php.net.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005's SQL Server Native Client. You can download SQL Server Native Client from a SQL Server 2005 Feature Pack.

  • Any edition of SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008.

  • A Web server configured to run PHP.

Instructions

Perform the following steps to download and install the SQL Server Driver for PHP
  1. Download php_sqlsrv.exe to a temporary directory.
  2. Run php_sqlsrv.exe.
  3. Enter an installation directory when prompted. It is recommended that you extract the file to %ProgramFiles% with the default directory: "Microsoft SQL Server Driver for PHP".
  4. After extracting the files, read the Installation section of the SQLServerDriverForPHP_Readme.htm file for next steps.
