Instructions

Installation instructions
If you have Microsoft Office 2003 installed, do one of the following:

  • Use Office Update on the Office Online Web site (recommended). Office Update automatically detects any version of Office and prompts you to install updates and service packs that bring Office up-to-date. After detection is complete, you receive a list of recommended updates for your approval. Click Start Installation to complete the process.


  • Install only Update for Office 2003: Alternative User Input (KB870774). To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Download the .exe file by clicking on the Download button at the top of the page, and then save the file to your hard disk drive.
      • office2003-kb870774-fullfile-enu.exe: You may need to provide the installation source during patch installation if you have previously updated your product.
    2. In Windows Explorer, double-click the .exe file that you saved to your hard disk drive.

    3. If you are prompted to install the update, click Yes.

    4. Click Yes to accept the End User License Agreement.

    5. Insert your original product CD-ROM, if you are prompted to do so, and then click OK.

    6. If you receive a message that indicates that you must restart your computer for the changes to take effect, click Yes.


Administrator resources
Administrators working in managed environments can find complete resources for deploying Office updates in an organization on the Office Admin Update Center Web site. On the home page of that site, look under Update Strategies for the product version you are updating.

The download for this update is available by clicking on the Download button at the top of the page. When you double-click the executable package, installation begins. To extract the patch files (MSP files), you must use a command line.
