Overview

The SQL Server 2005 SP3 Readme files describe how to obtain the latest version of SQL Server 2005 Books Online, how to obtain SQL Server 2005 SP3, and provide information about this release of the SQL Server 2005 Notification Services components. The SP3 Setup documentation provides installation assistance.

SQL Server 2005 SP3 will upgrade all editions of SQL Server 2005 to SP3 except for editions of SQL Server Express. You must use an edition of SQL Server 2005 Express SP3 to upgrade instances of SQL Server 2005 Express to SP3. SQL Server Express 2005 SP3 can also be used to install a new instance of SQL Server Express.

Click Download in the Files in this Download section to open the appropriate file.

  • To view the Readme for SQL Server 2005 SP3, open the ReadmeSQL2005SP3.htm file.

  • To view the Readme for SQL Server 2005 Express, open the Readme file that corresponds to the edition that you want to use:
    • For SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP3 and SQL Server Express Edition with Advanced Services SP3, open the ReadmeSQLExp2005SP3.htm file.
    • For SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express SP3 and SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit SP3, open the ReadmeSQLExpMgmtStudioToolkitSP3.htm file.

  • To view the Readme for SQL Server 2005 SP3 Notification Services, open the ReadmeSQL2005SP3NotificationServices.htm file.


To view the SQL Server 2005 SP3 Setup documentation on the local computer, do the following:

  1. Download and run Sqlhotfix_setuphelp.exe.

  2. Follow the instructions to extract the Help file.

  3. Find the location on the local computer where you saved the Sqlhotfix.chm file.

  4. Double-click Sqlhotfix.chm to open the Help file.
