Overview

The Windows Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer provides a way for users of supported Windows operating systems to view, but not alter, files with restricted permission. These restrictions enable authors to prevent sensitive documents, Web-based information, and e-mail messages from being forwarded, edited, or copied by unauthorized individuals. These restrictions provide protection, not only while the information is in transit, but also after the recipient of the information has received it.

Note: In order for you to successfully run the Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer (RMA) please first install the Windows Rights Management client (RM). Installing the RM client places software on your computer that allows it to respond to requests for licenses and keys. The RMA will not correctly run without installing the RM client before the RMA.

  • Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows ME; Windows Server 2003; Windows XP
  • Supported Internet Explorer Versions: Internet Explorer 6 SP1, and newer (including Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 8).

Instructions

How to download and install

  1. Install the Windows Rights Management client (RM)
  2. Click the Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer link to begin the download.
  3. Do one of the following:

    • To start the installation immediately, choose Open.
    • To copy the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save.

  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Yes if asked whether you would like to install and run RMUsetup.exe.



How to uninstall

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. (In Windows XP, click Start and then click Control Panel.)

  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

  3. Select Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer.

  4. Click Change/Remove.
